Welcome to Vancouver Island District

grant snider 125x166Welcome to Vancouver Island District.

As of August 2018, we have 707 members distributed throughout the Islands, mostly on the East Coast of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. However, we do have members as far north as Sayward and Black Creek and in the Alberni Valley and Tofino.

We balance the serious nature of our Pionairs organization with fun and involvement at our luncheons and with other activities. We encourage member participation on a Board level and Member level.

Coffee Meetings are held in South Island (Victoria Downtown, 4th Wednesday and Sidney, 2nd Wednesday); Mid Island (Nanaimo, 4th Wednesday) and North Island (Courtenay, last Thursday) monthly, except for June and July & December. As a member of Pionairs, you will receive a notice of locations of each Coffee Meeting.

Twice a year a District Newsletter is published with 625 sent electronically and 82 mailed by Canada Post to those members without computer. Information on coming Events and Coffee Klatches, Annual General Meeting information, pertinent information, Pensions, Travel and other important items applicable to Pionairs are in the Newsletters.

Luncheons are held throughout the Island. South Island (in Victoria or Sidney twice a year); Mid Island (Nanaimo/Parksville/Qualicum Beach once a year) and North Island (Comox or Courtenay once a year). On an ongoing basis at our luncheon functions, we keep you informed on AC news, and your pension and benefit status, and always have an Open Microphone segment. We also test your airline knowledge with contests, and have draws.van isl 460

It is an important function of the Director’s duties to attend the Semi-Annual Directors meetings and the Directors meeting in conjunction with the AGM each year.

Information gathered at these meetings is forwarded to members and AGM meeting is put on video in the Pionairs website.
