 Donna MacFarlane - Vancouver Island Director

Donna was born in Minto, New Brunswick. She moved to Sept-Iles, Quebec as a child. After graduation she spent a year in Montreal prior to moving to Vancouver BC where her career with the airlines began Oct 7, 1971.
She started in Sales Analysis Department with CP Air before moving to Reservations Department, where she worked as a Res Agent; Group Agent and a Pre-Paid Ticket Agent. Donna did a stint at Vancouver Airport as a Passenger Agent before taking a position as Training and Operational Supervisor in Whitehorse, Yukon- (1st woman supervisor in the north under the CP banner ) - from 1981-86.
In 1986 she accepted a position in Edmonton, Alta as a Sales Rep before obtaining the same position in Victoria, B.C. a year later with Canadian Airlines. In 1998 she commuted to Vancouver a couple a times a week as a Corporate Sales Rep for Canadian and Air Canada.
Donna retired in 2000 in Victoria, where she resides with her partner Bob Petersen.
At the end of December 2011 we had 640 members distributed throughout the Islands, mostly on the East Coast of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. However, we do have members as far north as Black Creek, in the Alberni Valley and on the West Coast at Tofino.
We have Coffee Klatches in three areas of Vancouver Island .
Victoria (Downtown), Victoria (Sidney), and the Comox Valley.
NOTE: Coffee Klatches in Parksville/Qualicum Beach and the Nanaimo area are no longer being held due to lack of interest.
In future, if any of the members decide that they would like to meet and are willing to set up a location, as your District Director I will be happy to put out notices on a monthly, or bi-monthly or quarterly basis, please let me know location, time etc.
Twice a year we publish the VanIsle Newsletter, which is e-mailed to over 430 members and Canada Post mailed to 209 members. Information on Coming Events and Coffee Klatches, Annual General Meetings, pertinent information on pensions, travel and other important items applicable to Pionairs. Check out our Photo Gallery on this Pionairs web site under the Gallery Tab.
We have a Spring Luncheon and a Christmas Luncheon in the South Island area, Mid Island area and the Comox Valley area every year.
It is an important part of the Director’s job to attend the Semi-Annual Directors meetings and the Directors meeting in conjunction with the AGM. We are made aware of many things at these meetings which we are able to advise our membership.
